Overview:

The Return is a full-size ping pong table developed as part of the Re-Hatch collaboration with Hatch. Designed for commercial interiors, creative workspaces, and experiential environments, the table transforms reclaimed steel, recycled plastics, and salvaged fitness equipment into a durable, interactive asset. The bold black finish and distinctive hand drawn artwork elevate the piece beyond standard recreational furniture, positioning it as both a functional product and a statement installation.

How it was made

The structural frame was engineered from reclaimed king size bed frames, cut down and re-fabricated into a robust steel base. This was clad with Myboard panels to form the playing surface and body. The entire structure was finished in black before being overlaid with signature white doodle artwork by Hatch. The net was created by weaving reclaimed treadmill belts, tensioned with a frame made from repurposed treadmill metal. A concealed push to open drawer was integrated beneath the table to house the bats and balls, featuring internal artwork detailing. Custom bats were produced using layered plywood and Myboard, with treadmill belt surfaces applied to the faces of the paddles
